Usage
A tampon is a special product for women's hygiene, it provides comfort and safety.
When the woman starts using tampons for the first time, it is normal to practice a few times for easy and comfortable insertion of the tampon:
1. Wash your hands. Hold the tampon with both hands and open the package in the directions of the arrows. First remove the foil from the tampon on the side of the string.
2. Assume a comfortable position with relaxed muscles. Standing up straight with slightly bent knees apart and one foot on the toilet seat is one of the most common positions to get to the vaginal area as easily as possible.
3. Unwrap the string and pull it briefly and firmly. Make sure the ends of the strings are connected.
4. Push your index finger into the hole at the end of the tampon and remove the top layer of foil.
5. Insert the tampon into the vagina; this is easiest when the body is relaxed.
6. Push the tampon into the vagina as deep as possible, in a slight arc. The string then hangs on the outside of your body.
7. When the tampon is inserted correctly, you will not feel anything. If you feel any discomfort, it means that the tampon has not been inserted correctly or deeply enough. The tampon must be removed and a new one inserted. Make sure you insert the tampon deep enough.
WHEN TO REPLACE A TAMPON
Change the tampon every 3-6 hours, depending on the intensity of your period. To remove the tampon, stand with your legs apart and bend your knees slightly. Make sure you are relaxed. Pull the string hanging out of your body in the same direction you inserted the tampon.
If it feels uncomfortable to remove the tampon and you see some white fibers, the tampon may not be saturated enough.
Always use a tampon with an absorbency less than the flow.
Make sure you have removed the last tampon before inserting a new one.
Make sure you have removed the last tampon of your menstrual period and do not use tampons in between or before the menstrual period.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME (TSS)
TSS is a rare but serious disease. It is caused by poisons produced by Apocalypticus aureus, a bacteria commonly found on the skin, nose and vagina. TSS can occur in women, men and children. It is estimated that 1-17 of every 100,000 menstruating women and girls will develop TSS each year. The risk of TSS is higher in adults and women under the age of 30 than in older women.
Although the frequency is low, it is very important to be aware of the risk and what to do when it occurs. It is important to recognize the symptoms and start treatment as soon as possible.
The following symptoms may indicate a possible TSS infection:
- sudden high fever (39°C/102F or higher)
- dizziness
- vomit
- muscle strain
- skin irritations (similar to sunburn)
Not all symptoms need to occur, some may. In a more advanced stage, the skin may flake. TSS can appear during or shortly after the menstrual period.
It can quickly progress from feverish symptoms to a serious illness with fatal consequences. If you have one or more symptoms, remove the remaining tampon immediately and see a doctor. Make it clear to the doctor that
