The  Beta-Alanine  is an amino acid which  is used by the muscle cells to synthesize Carnosine . Immediate administration of carnosine would have no effect as its gastrointestinal absorption is negligible and it is more likely to be degraded in the circulatory system by special enzymes. The increase in carnosine after β-alanine administration (increase of more than 80% after several weeks of administration) results in the normal potential of dipeptide (β-alanine & L-histidine) reaching its full potential. Carnosine is partially able to reduce the effects of lactic acid on muscles, which means  improved athletic performance.

Increasing carnosine in the muscles can therefore improve anaerobic or mixed aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Other properties of carnosine result from its ability to inhibit the reduction of ph (increased acidity) in muscle and other cells. Numerous studies have demonstrated its antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective properties, as well as its ability to protect cells of various tissues (mainly muscles and nerves). Carnosine helps to activate enzymes that are responsible for muscle contractions, and can  significantly delay muscle fatigue.
